My life, and a box of nuts

That's how I summed up the mad week I experienced a week ago.

Had a health scare, which morphed oddly enough into a good thing (found out my damning Norse genes aren't going to doom my heart, and that I was in generally good shape). But - and I say this after already embracing this "life thing" that we're going through; it *really* turned in to an affirmation that what I am doing, what I feel, and how I intend to continue living is spot on.

Nothing crystallizes what's important about your life more than thinking you might lose it.

Nothing.

So - it's back out to shoot soon (as soon as this artery has completely healed - I think next week) and then a mad, and soon to be named, trip to Scotland.

Perhaps I should call it Scotland 2008 - The Hunt for the Haggis. Or, should it have a fishier feel, as I intend to find some fishing to shoot while there....like, Scotland; The Vikings Invaded For Fish.

Bah - I don't like either of those.

Regardless - gotta find a phrase that fits soon. I'm going to be working the entire time there - plan on shooting like MAD!

Oh - going back to my last week - managed to land a very good client here in Houston, AND, shortly thereafter signed a contract with CaroFoto - a stock agency based in Germany, that has a satellite office in Poznan, Poland. I'll soon have my worked marketed in Europe. Woot!

And now, a few more nature images need editing. Another submission due this week to Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine - upcoming hunting issue, and I'm hoping I just caught a good morning dove in flight.

A rambling thought; my mate Tom is up in Colorado just now - I've decided to post that I hate him. ;)

Another rambling thought; I find it interesting that PhotoShelter photographers complain so much. I have about 600 images live with them now, and regularly frequent the forums, and find so much complaining - some valid, but some very amusing. I find most amusing that the photographers there don't recognize that PSC (PhotoShelterCollection) is trying to change the stock photography paradigm, and move folks away from the micro-trend, and into a more traditional compensation model. The old-timers hate it as the agency isn't being run in a conventional manner (too much gorilla marketing for their tastes, too much appeal to the youth culture, too much cross-over of other online technologies ala Facebook, MySpace, etc), the new folks bitch because they want their snapshot of Fluffy to be accepted IMMEDIATELY, and even if it's shaite, no matter that there are standards, and that it's an edited Collection, and this isn't friggin' Flickr!

But all in all I admire what the staff of PSC is trying to do, and hope that they've the financial backing to make it through the first couple of years, as I believe long term they're going to challenge the 600 pound gorilla (yes - Getty Images).

Off to edit....ciao for now...

When Vikings Go Mad

Seems a fitting start to the mad ramblings of a Norseman that I'd only post up a brief 2 liner, no?

Well - that's exactly what I'll do then.

But you can expect some musings about past, present, and future shoots to show up here - and I promise that I'll try not to ramble too much.
